B.R.-

My '95 Savage doesn't shake my hands much between 60-75 mph. If it does, it's not noticable. And my forks got twisted and straightened back again after a drop. Now, I do wear riding gloves, so that may dampen the vibes a bit.

I test drove a bone-stock 883 Hugger last summer and jumped from my Savage to the Sporty and back again. Niether bikes vibed too much to notice discomfort. The Sportster ran out of pep at the top of each gear, where my Savage spings into life at higher RPM. Seat height on the Savage was lower for my 5'8" size. I like my feet flat on the ground. The Sporty seemed like a "beefier" but more sluggish bike than the Savage. I was surprised. I figured the 883 would be faster than it was out of the crate.

I was happy to get back on my Savage after the test ride. I felt like it was the best kept secret in the cruiser market (price to value/performance).

I'd like to hear others' comments on comparing these two bikes first-hand.
